Kinect Configuration Issue

Ali Abbas
Dear All,

I am using lucid and have ROS diamondback release. I am interested to configure kinect on ROS. For this purpose I had followed the instruction given at following url

http://www.ros.org/wiki/openni_camera

while running the command 'roslaunch openni_camera openni_node.launch' following traces are encountered.

aliabbas@CS-02990DT:~$ roslaunch openni_camera openni_node.launch
... logging to /home/aliabbas/.ros/log/6c7d7688-6a7f-11e0-951f-00111100485d/roslaunch-CS-02990DT-12642.log

Hi,

here a couple of questions that may help to solve the problem:
-) which version of openn-dev and ps-engine are you using?
   just type "dpkg -l openni-dev" and "dpkg -l ps_engine".
-) are you in the group "video" ? If not, add yourself to that group, since otherwise you dont have permissions to the device.

Hello,

I had used these both commands to check the version and found following trace.

aliabbas@CS-02990DT:~$ dpkg -l openni-dev
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Cfg-files/Unpacked/Failed-cfg/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name                 Version              Description
+++-====================-====================-========================================================
ii  openni-dev           0.0.2~lucid          OpenNI developer package
aliabbas@CS-02990DT:~$ dpkg -l ps_engine
No packages found matching ps_engine.

Kindly advice me any helping solution

Regards,
Ali

+++-=====================================-=====================================-==========================================================================================
ii  openni-dev                            0.1.0~maverick                        OpenNI developer package
cyphynets@LUMS:/opt/ros/diamondback/stacks/openni_kinect$ dpkg -l ps-engine
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name                                  Version                               Description

I had added myself in video group and run the code again but same results are encountered. Please I need some help.

Also I am trying to run "openni_tracker" but it is not working and I am facing the following trace;

cyphynets@LUMS:/opt/ros/diamondback/stacks/openni_kinect/openni_tracker$ rosrun openni_tracker openni_tracker
Illegal instruction
cyphynets@LUMS:/opt/ros/diamondback/stacks/openni_kinect/openni_tracker$
